I'll say, the first time I heard "This I Love" it definitely wasn't what I expected and wasn't to my liking.  And to this day I can't say I absolutely love the song, so I see where you're coming from.  But it has grown on me over time.  I think it's a powerfully emotional song and that Robin's solo fits the song well.  I know that's not the popular belief, but I'm sticking to it.

If that's what you believe, you should stick to it. I'm not trying to change anybody's mind about the way they feel about a song. I was just personally expressing my dislike towards it. Sounds like a cheap b-side single when you way it against the greats like Patience, SCOM, or NR. Then again, I may just be somewhat biased considering I'm not a fan of the whiney piano ballad direction Axl has moved toward.

This is from someone who only signed up to their first GNR forum yesterday.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing you are.

I'm not sure what you are trying to imply. Are you saying that it's not possible to hear GNR leaks without being a member of a forum? Hell, I've been visiting file sharing sites and youtube for years. This isn't the first time I ever viewed a fan forum, but it is my first time being registered to one. Not sure why that's so difficult for some to comprehend or believe. Odd.

i agree with Otis...TIL is pretty stupid...its so over the top and cheesy

maybe when they do the gnr broadway show, they can include this track

Yeah, no shit. Lol. Anyone who likes it, that's cool. Not trying to offend. I just personally thought it was candy ass, butt rock at its finest. Most folks that I know in the real world seemed to share my sentiments. Definitely isn't GNR.

"Axl won't be cooperating any further??"

This has got to be bogus. When did he ever start?

Saikin does bring up a good point. Otis, were you downloading the annual leaks, or did you get your first taste of the songs when the album was released?

I heard the Mike Piazza leak. IRS? I also heard some of the leaks right before they toured a few years back. I can't recall exactly what the demos sounded like, but I don't remember being as disappointed in them as I was the album. For years, I remember reading how the album was delayed again because Axl was trying to improve it. I guess that I just honestly expected something better than the steaming pile of shit that we ended up with.

To touch on something from above... Better is my favorite Guns N' Roses song ever and the solo from TIL is my favorite on the album.

Well, as they say, different strokes for different folks. I personally thought both of those songs were God awful terrible. Axl crying over the piano on 'This I Love' was laughable. How that managed to make the final cut of an album that was years in the making is beyond me. Hearing that song kind of paints the picture more clearly of why Slash and Duff walked out on Axl. Can't really say I blame them for not wanting to be associated with that.

#17 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Band To Take Questions From Various Forums » 850 weeks ago

Holy shit. This is the first that I've heard of this Q&A thing. No offense to anyone here, but the first thing that popped into my mind when reading that was 'who gives a sweet shit'?! I mean, if Axl isn't answering anything, you know it's gonna be a bunch of hand puppet answers from his yes-men.

In all honesty, I wouldn't even care to ask any of these guys anything. Half of them didn't even play on the album, right? Not to mention, most of them are nothing more than B-side touring musicians. I'm guessing they decided to do this to get some of the negative press off Axl's nuts due to his album bombing, and his juvenile "Slash in cancer" comments.

Looks like old dreadlocks is gearing up hot n heavy for a 2009 cash grab. How many Chinese Democracy tours will this be now?

I don't see what the article has to do with its title. It is about the band never reuniting, not about GnR being an "Epic Fail"

Yeah, but the 2 are directly proportional.

well what failure are we talking about? chinese democracy? lets follow your logic here.

chinese democracy was a failure because the old band will never reunite.

doesnt make sense

Chinese Democracy was a failure as proven by lack of interest from the fans, media, poor sales, no hit singles, etc.

This was the first album of original material without Slash, Izzy, and Duff. All the material they released had fan/media appeal, hit singles, interest, high volume sales, etc.

Thus, my "directly proportional" comment.

I'd love to see Izzy back in the studio. Obviously the guy won't fully commit, but that writing chemistry combined with a few virtuosos putting it down on tape could be absolute gold.

Catcher is the best song on the album.

I'm completely with you on the first part of your post. Having Izzy back in some form of recording capacity would be killer. IMO, he was the guy who wrote the bulk majority of Guns best songs. Axl isn't a bad writer either, but most of his best writing are the ballads (NR, Estr). There aren't too many rockers of his that are worth a shit. Scraped should have been scrapped, Shackler should have been an abortion, and I think Better was entirely overrated. Filler at best, imho.

I know that I'm new and this is probably repetitive, but I seriously can't believe Axl wasted this many years on recording the piece of shit known as Chinese Democracy. If he kept delaying the release in an attempt to make it better, this album must have been complete and utter shit back in 01'-02', or it wasn't bad and he just tweaked it to where it sounds like the garbage that we have commercially available today. Either way, Izzy's presence could do wonders for him on future material.

Catcher was the song with May, right? If so, the demo wasn't half bad. The version that was released is complete shit.
