#11 Re: Guns N' Roses » Rank the Post CD Songs » 84 weeks ago

Ive been dabbling with this playlist

Zodiac
Silk
Hard School
Nothing
Eye On You
Atlas
Ides
Perhaps
SOG
As It Began
The General
Monsters
Thyme

There are a few other of the instrumentals I love but trying to keep it to versions that are shorter for this rotation

I’d love to see the list of songs MSL had that listed Tonto and Cuban Skies.

Curly Shuffle
D-Tune
Me and My Elvis
Zodiac

All sound like completed songs just lacking vocals.

I'd like to hear Dummy. Sounds like a good one

The problem with anything new gnr related is $$$. Writing credits and touring will all lead to the old lineup. To much red tape for new gnr to have a run in any capacity. The only thing I can maybe see is some sort of box set of the CD era that Slash and Duff sign off on and  throw Axl and company a bone. Even that can potentially undermine the current band if the versions with Bucket and Finck blow away the reworked songs.

Its time for Axl to move on from that era anyway since it doesn't have a future. Pick a few more songs for Slash to work on and release them. It's time to start focusing on new material with the current lineup.

Good point on how Slash/Duff have to sign off on everything.

Agree that it's time to move on. I think they're about to and that's why we're now getting these mythical songs.

They know which songs the fans have wanted for decades. One more batch would essentially wrap it up.

Do one more drip feed, have GNR management address the issue with hardcore fans telling them the CD saga is over and a new chapter has begun, and they'll see a lot of the negativity go away.

They don't have to release the rest of the material to please 99% of the hardcore base. Just the main songs.

Atlas
Oklahoma
Seven

Boom... Chinese over.

Just put all the extra CD left over songs that have vocals on the CD anniversary addition and then they can move on
its really simple

I dont think its that simple. It should be but when $$$ is involved, concessions need to be made and or negotiated.

agreed.

Compile all the new songs and a couple more and release it as an album. No promo is necessary. They are all taking a break after this tour doing their own thing.  Solid holdover until the next fresh album which will take a few yrs to make and promote.

Nope. They've never talked to me. I think they got the message back in the day when there was that attempt for the forums to all unite to ban/censor MSL to prevent leaks and I said they could fuck off.

Plus we were known back then as the outlaw forum and I said many times I was not for sale...don't give a fuck about "perks" such as emails and backstage passes.

Im pretty sure chicken dinner leaked here. Some of the Village discs might have or maybe hit the discord first. Not sure.

Some of those 2007 leaks hit our old forum (ROV) first.

Didn't that Walker guy leak a couple songs here years ago and everyone jumped his ass over the YouTube stuff?

the best thing about you and this forum is it was the only true forum for the fans that didn't kiss the bands or TBs butt for speical perks. Its why this is the only GNR forum I go to anymore.

One of the reasons I felt ok taking the hard stance I did is because I knew the Axl from our youth would have respected it. Maybe he did respect it in 2006-8.

He joined HTGTH, mygnr, CD.com and Evo in 2008 for chats.

Guess which one he didn't actually post on?

It pissed people off but it was a nice gesture. He didn't have to sign up at all. Could have ignored us like he did those other forums like newgnr, GNRsource, gnfnr, etc.

When the official GNR site posted the chat transcripts, they linked to the transcripts posted here instead of the others.

James, what happened to the gnfr forum?

I wonder how Slash truly feels about reworking and releasing CD era songs. Is he picking from the vault because he's genuinely interested and "inspired," or does he see it as a means to an end, in that the quicker they bang these out, the quicker they can get into a studio and create new material?
