It's the same A or B side. The lack of work on it is obvious.

This is obvious, they decided to just publish it, then they didn’t give it much importance, some posts on Instagram, then enough.

All casual GNR fans i put the song they do this kind of comments. They don't like It.
'seriously IS this GNR?' asked me one of my fave friends....
Not very popular

I would like to show you the comments on Italian metal sites, they are pure hate.
For example:
- "A steaming piece of shit before I left in the morning would have been much more valuable..."
- "Here we are really faced with a shambles...
I don’t have words anymore...
I wonder why Slash and Duff wanted to get back together with that clown (Axl) and continue the destruction of the group’s name..."

evader, if you are out there, can you conjure up a combo of your masterful track with the actual recording?

work your magic....just some rough suggestions....
"legend" = your masterpiece
"TG"=TG

intro (Legend 0-2:40)
into TG intro (TG 0-2:21)
into legend at 3:16-3:34  (if you could isolate and throw in a few faint "daddy dont" during that lil marching beat you have)
into TG (2:48 -3:26)
into legend at 5:05-5:58
into TG (3:26-4:23) ( maybe a daddy dont alongside axls wailing outro right before going back into your outro)
into legend outro (7-7:25)

if you aren't busy work your magic and make it the epic it deserved to be. smile))

I can’t wait to hear it

Monsters is a 20/10 while the general is 5.5/10 at best

The General deserves the suffice in my opinion.

Probably Axl cut that chorus due to the woke ideology and the troubles the chorus could bring home Lol

This just in… my own personal ratings for the new songs

Perhaps - fucking great
Hard skool - fucking great
The general - good but not my fave
Monsters - one of the best things they have ever done so help me Jesus it’s awesome so it is!
Absurd- sucks the sweat off of a dead man’s balls

Me:
Perhaps: good one but worse than Catcher, Streets of Dreams... And the demo solo and synths are better than the final song. It would fit perfectly in UYI II or Chinese Democracy
Hard Skool: it's a good song but i prefer Better, Chinese Democracy or Shacklers. As happens with perhaps, the demo has more potential in my opinion
Absurd: experimental crazy song, enjoyable but once again i prefer the demo. I think Rhiad or oh my God are quite better
The General: once again a good song that i enjoy but in Chinese Democracy are better songs i've already mentioned
Monsters: my fave of all above. It has great potential.

Me:
- Perhaps: It's good and is the one with TG and Monsters with more potential. I listened to the demos and I think the original solo is actually better, as I said before it could fit in one of the two UYI, although for me This I Love and I.R.S. are better.
- Hard Skool: This is also good, but it has a text too banal, the message could be transmitted better, certainly better than Absurd. Although other songs of the CD era, such as Chinese Democarcy, Better and Prostitute, are better.
- Absurd: This is unusual and quite senseless, but it is precisely this chaos that does not make it completely horrible, because as a sound it is really good. The problem is the mix of the voice, I really don’t like the timbre, maybe with a more natural voice would be better, or with a bigger voice like modern heavy metal.
- The General: TG has a lot of potential, but it hasn’t been well spent. As said in the days before a better mix of the voice and some improvement towards the final part would have helped a lot. Then for the sound and the mystery is a track that I really like.
- Monsters: It’s the best with Perhaps. This could be inside an UYI, too. Absolutely catchy for sound and voice I like, although there may still be improvements. Although this piece has CD origins, the band here has put a lot of effort and it doesn’t even seem a piece of that period, but it has something new that reminds at the same time USY.

Mike, as i said at the end of the day i love so much this band that i enjoy everything. And i'm also with you that they are mature and that brings an evolution to their music.
But... The quality, the creativity, the art of surprised fans with the music.
I feel this band could make it better. For me TG is not a bad song but let me cold when i listen It. Is this the continuation of the trilogy? Can It be compared to the songs of the trilogy in terms of quality, impact, surprise... Not for me.
Bach said this song was his favourite song of all the material he heard.... How will be the unheard songs... I hope he is wrong!
I remember when people talked about BIG Guns... I think the last Big guns i've heard are several songs of CD. But not HS, Absurd, TG or Perhaps.
And don't misunderstand me, i enjoy these songs but if i rate them are far away from Big guns

Not that there’s any rhyme or reason to the way they do things, but making The General a B side would seem to indicate they (the band, etc.) don’t consider it a Big Gun either. It was released at midnight with a few tweets leading up to it and a YouTube video of just the audio. No lyric video even. Not exactly giving it the red carpet treatment.

That’s right, they let it out for whim. They didn’t give him much importance as Perhaps, to whom they dedicated many posts and merchandising

I agree with you, these last songs are not at all up to the past albums if compared to them, except Perhaps that there could be in one of the two UYI. They certainly had potential to be better than they are now. Absurd and TG with a better vocal mix, HS with less banal lyrics, etc. I hope they put more effort into the next new pieces like Monsters

So many hating in comments on social media sites.  Lots love it.  I heard the recent leak of the G.  So I’d heard it prior but new one sounds better than the leak to my ears.  I think something people are to remember is this is supposed to be considered a “B-side.”  To me that means song that was thrown out due to it feeling not strong enough etc.. or maybe CD era band or new returning slash duff band or Axl feel or felt at some point that it wasn’t worthy for an album release.  I think we’d all still agree that it’s still them releasing something which is better than nothing.  Even the worst GNR song id welcome to have something new.  People jock AFD so much.  Sure it’s great.  I’m more of an illusions guy.  I love the grandiose Queen on steroids.  To me that’s when GNR found a defined sound as a band was UYI.  To me people need to stop jerking AFD and be glad something is even happening.  Even if the way the band goes about it and the slowness of it is completely stupid and unnecessary.

I love Chinese Democracy. It has very good songs in a new direction and i think some bands always do the same and others like GNR search for new directions: AFD, UYI, CD...
But at some point they have a catalogue. And we as hardcore fans have our hopes in the new material to be at the average of that catalogue.
I was listening yesterday to the General in Spotify and i was almost slept and when TG finished next song was Don't Cry ... I realized then the BIG difference in terms of quality.
I think all we have til now Absurd, HS, Perhaps and now TG don't fit in the GNR catalogue as most of the songs of Chinese do.
I still have curiosity about Seven or others but.... Ummmm... So dissapointed with the last songs except Perhaps (nothing out of this world but It fits in the illusions).
That's my honest opinion and don't want to upset anyone here.
I listen for example to Buckcherry and every album has very good songs which adds to their catalogue. Opposite to GNR. And other many bands. But at the end of the day, i love GNR and i'm always waiting for their music.

Wise words. Too many occasional or nostalgic fans.

True, people remain in the nostalgia of those times demanding that Guns make songs like those of the AFD era, Or if they recognize that times have changed think then that the Guns should stop because despite all nostalgic still regret the past.
