#11 Re: The Sunset Strip » House of The Dragon » 47 weeks ago

Digging this season so far, though I don't have a clue what their endgame is with Daemon and the Weirwood tree influence.  My favorite YouTube Preston Jacobs was lampooned for over a decade for claiming the weirwood throne at the vale was the cause of Robin Arryn's seizures, and the show took that idea and ran with it.

Really really like what they're doing with Aemond.

Hidden Text:

In the book he came across to me as the ultimate swordman and military man.  He was portrayed as calm and collected, a better version of the Rogue Prince Daemon.  Not here.  He's power hungry like most Targaryen's, and is as ruthless as Daemon ever was, but he has fucking Vhagar.

My only issue is that they made Aegon seem overly dumb.  In season 1, the Valyrian dragon tamers scolded the other children for not being as devoted and connected to their dragon bond as Aegon.  He was the example of someone who naturally and enthusiastically put in the work to bond and train their dragon.  Then they have riding his nuke just like Dr. Strangelove as he bumbles into battle.

The director said the kiss between Mysaria and Rhaenyra wasn't planned, Emma Darcy just adlibbed it.  Kind of weird.  Both Dany and Cersei have several lesbian encounters in the book, but the show for all its tits and ass glory never used it.  Weird to force it in here and detract from the fact Rhaenyra is supposed to be losing her shit and showing all the mad Targaryen traits, but just like in season 1 they seem to want to force a girl boss on us for team black.

Because I'm bored and these maps can be fun.  This is my hypothetical outcome if Harris goes with Josh Shapiro as her VP.  Going with Shapiro would presumably move PA into the (D) column again, and would help pull Wisconsin and Michigan over as well.  I don't think such a move is enough to have any impact on GA or NC, regardless of who is picked.  NV and AZ seem especially Trump favorable with the immigration issue, so again, none help move those two from where they're at today.  Maine has also been going towards Trump, but a moderate Democrat might help.  I'm giving it to Harris, but think 1 of the extra EVs will firmly go to Trump.  Every other state votes as it did in 2020.  This puts us at no winner in the EV, so the House votes.

Vote dude. I know the south will be red regardless, but it’s an important right everyone should exercise. I don’t care who you vote for, but vote.

It's Harris.  The Democrats don't have a choice, the party, particularly the left wing orthodoxy, have already said as much.  Immediately after the debate, prominent Democrats said they'd revolt if "the first black woman" was denied the position.  She polled horribly in 2020 and withdrew before the first primary was even held.  Most polls I've seen show her doing worse than Biden in the swing states.  And I don't think that is gonna change, she is less liked than Trump if such a thing is possible.

Never say never, but the right wing wackjobs saying this was all planned are off their meds.  This isn't how you successfully run a campaign against Trump.  A significant portion of the party are going to be outraged their isn't any debate in nominating Harris, and when she takes down 1-2 Senate races, flipping the Senate GOP, the Democrats are going to blame it all on her.  I don't see any viable way Harris wins this, and the Democrats have only themselves to blame for lying and dismissing any concerns over Biden's now objective cognitive decline.  They could have had an enthusiastic primary where they picked the next generation of Democrat.  They're going to try to brand Harris as just that, but I'm calling it now that Trump gets more of the black vote than any Republican in a century.

And worse, I have no doubt Biden is going to return to his cave and only be seen through teleprompter sightings.  He's not able to run for reelection because the majority of his own party thinks he's lost it, yet is still able to push us closer to WW3 with his disastrous foreign policy.  That this dipshit thinks he's remotely successful at diplomacy is the biggest sign his brain is decaying there is.

Adam Schiff is seriously asking for Biden to drop out? It's unbelievable how quickly the Dems are unraveling. The coalition is unraveling daily now. Their only solution? Replace Biden at the 11th hour.

It's a joke.

I'm disgusted that they're offering Americans nothing. The best Dems have to offer is 'wait, let's replace Biden at the last second.'

Not only is it  terrible strategy to go after your own incumbent...they aren't offering anything at all to anyone. What would 4 more years look like? No clue...no plan...nothing to offer...

Guess we need to introduce more articles of impeachment.

Welcome to the club, Mitch. Ain't it a lot easier and happier when you call out both sides?

The question I want answered is how did this happen. We know there were snipers in place above, we saw them in the news coverage. How does a guy in multicam climb onto a white roof, and not be immediately spotted by the SS snipers. That’s the whole fucking reason they exist. Dude should have been spotted the moment he climbed on top and should have been neutralized a second later when visual confirmation of his weapon occurred. Standard Rules of Engagement for any situation like this.

Somebody fucked up bigtime. Didn’t House Democrats attempt to strip Trump of SS detail?

The shooter was a bad shot, that’s how I explain it. Assuming he shot an AR, the trajectory of that bullet is flat at 100-150 yards. Maybe he was trying to be fancy and go for a head shot, but 2-3 rounds center mass in quick succession would have been far more effective.

Im saying Democrats and Biden until he pulled all advertising this evening, explicitly said Trump was the most dangerous threat facing our country. They’ve been saying it for years. They also claim that any event that they can attempt to label right wing violence was inspired by or incited by Trump. See January 6th for the dictionary example. Charlottesville used to occupy that spot.

Someone, who clearly believed taking out Trump was worth dying over, has now shot the President in an attempted assasination attempt. CBS was immediately asking why Trump wasn’t asking for calm in his tweet. Again, refer to the previous paragraph.

Democrats can no longer say with a straight face that Trump is inciting violence. We all remember the summer of 2020, even though we were told it was “mostly peaceful”. Steve Scalise was shot. Now Trump. The people doing the shooting don’t get to tell others they’re inciting violence with their rhetoric.

I don’t know how Biden and co escape their rhetoric on this.  The commercials he buys tells me Trump will be a dictator and poses the greatest threat our democracy has ever faced. And now some left wing nutjob took 5 minutes to buy his AR, and took his shot. I don’t believe in a God that gives two fucks about our lives, but to quote Jules Winfield “that’s some divine intervention shit”.

Media is saying it was a 100 meter/yard shot, and homeboy didn’t get a direct hit. Definitely not military or a hunter. Whoever the shooter is, they weren’t trained.

I’m amazed at how this election is shaping up. It’s truly an amalgamation of 2016 and 2020, but reversed.

In 2016 republicans such as myself hoped and prayed Trump would be replaced at the convention, this couldn’t be our nominee. The convention came and went and the majority got on the Trump train. This is what is happening with Biden now. Half the party wants someone else, and over half thinks he should step aside because he’s not a serious candidate. Sound familiar?

In 2020 Trump was down in nearly every poll this time. Covid was all the hype and the media and Democrats blamed Trump for the shitty state of affairs. Biden hid from the media for 6 months, and let Trump destroy himself with his nonstop gaffes and idiotic statements. Admittedly Trump isn’t hiding in his bunker, but he’s certainly not leading the chorus of chants against Biden. Quite the opposite in fact, he’s shutting the fuck up about it. The same media the ran Covid numbers on every inch of our screens for 10 months is now doing to Biden what it did to Trump, and Trump is letting it eat Biden.

I thought Stephanopolous went too far with his interview with Biden. Yes, he needed to hit the mark on Biden’s cognitive ability, but he beat a dead horse. He pushed Biden to say only God can get him to quit, and that was way beyond the line of good journalism in my book. Biden is staying in the race. We don’t need 12 minutes of nonstop badgering on if that’s a good idea.

I have serious concerns for this nation early next year. Because I do think Trump will win, and the violence of the summer of 2020 is only a glimmer of what left wing radicals will do now. The media and the left have convinced them it’s morally acceptable to use violence against “Nazis” and that Trump is the greatest threat to America in a century. Let’s ignore the reality of his presidency and the crime rates and and global conflicts, and pretend such a claim is remotely true, as they do. How do you not have tens of thousands of Gen Zers and young millennials in the streets trying to insta their Selma moment?  How do you not have militarized police that respond with force when they try to firebomb the White House again like they did on June 1st 2020.

If you think for a moment Democratic leaders will call for calm, Pelosi and Schumer knelt in solidarity with the rioters a day after they threw Molotovs at the White House and Trump was rushed to the bunker. Democrats called 2016 stolen and Trump illegitimate. They’re just as guilty of dissent and stirring the pot as Trump was in the aftermath of 2020. Or did we all forget that every newspaper in the country and leading Democrats called for the electoral college to vacate Trump in January of 17?

ARs and AKs take 5 minutes to get in nearly every state. Both extremes have violent people willing to hurt others for their cause. The two party system is broken and co-opted by the same corporations and people happy to have the country fight over coke or Pepsi.

Civil war is coming. China is now in Belarus doing drills alongside Russia, and half our country is blindly urging us to head to WW3.  I wonder if fighting for men to swim in the women’s Olympics or passing heart beat bills will seem like hills to die on in the coming years.
