#1931 Re: Guns N' Roses » Supporting Baz [and Axl].. who will buy Angel Down? » 920 weeks ago

I'm undecided, I might or might not. If I decide I want it, I'll buy it and not download. I was leaning towards no but now I've heard LIABS I'm reconsidering, I'm really liking that song.

He's probably just meant the shows he was supporting at, there was only one cancellation. I could be wrong but I'm guessing that's what he meant.

I'll be having a burger king in about 20 mins, I'm not really looking forward to it.

Do yourselves a favour, look it up!

I like Coupling but I wouldn't give it that much praise. A British version of Friends with weaker characters imo.

We have threads for every other genre imaginable so here's the comedy one.

What/who are your favourite comedies (film or tv) and comedians?

Maybe you've seen someone in standup who you'd really recommend or a new comedy on tv?

A few of my favourite tv comedies are

Alan Partridge
The Office
Fawlty Towers
Friends

I think Billy Connolly, Peter Kay and Ricky Gervais are awesome stand up comedians

I saw this on youtube the other day, pretty funny

What's everyone elses favourites?

Well, I'm not the first to say it. This vid was brought up on HTGTH a year ago, and it was eventually decided that it's not a handjob (hahaha...handjob...). If you watch his mouth closely you can see it's not a natural mouth closed look and it doesn't stay the same.

I don't know, there's a black 'thing' sticking out behind his hands if you look, I reckon he's doing it with some kind of squeak toy.

Well, if Uni has the album, won't they say something?  What reasons do they have to not say at least this:

"We have Chinese Democracy now and we hope to release it in the next year".

They have nothing to lose if the ball is in their court.

If they have it then can't they say anything they want and end all this secrecy/silent treatment bullshit?

Why would they, it's not the labels job to announce stuff like that. They don't do it for other bands as far as I'm aware so I doubt they'd do it in this case either.

"The true ongoing behind-the-scenes triumphs and casualties are much more complicated than any negative speculation that media or otherwise has managed to hit upon. For much of the time some form or another of legalities have been taking place that really the best way to deal with publicly was to keep our mouths shut in an attempt to ensure the best outcome and especially one that wouldn't jeopardize the band or the album."

Amazing how in one statement we have justification for GNR both communicating and not communicating with it's fans 16

One other thing regarding the Mysteron statement: They just crossed the line in the sand. It has went from being GNR as the reason for the hold up to the record company. They can no longer say "the album needs more work', 'Axl has to tidy up the vocals',etc.

I agree that Mysteron's latest comments are a change, but they could still go back to "the album needing more work." Axl has said that the album was done before, the cover art, all that good stuff. We know how that panned out. Axl, Merck and Mysteron said that the album was coming out last year, we know how that panned out. Things change all the time in the GN'R world. It's never ever their fault. It's always some unforseen obstacle. roll

I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised if we were sititng here in November 2008 discussing why it still isn't out yet. Like I said, I hope that I'm wrong, but we'll see.

Exactly. They could always say "The label said the album needs more work"

They could but it would be absoloute suicide to say that. That's effectively admitting it's been rejected, no way does GNR want to say that their 10 year in the making album wasn't good enough for the record company, anticipation for the album would plummet.

That's why Mysteron's comment is quite interesting, unlike most of his posts this one has very little wriggle room, if they back away from what Mysteron has said it only makes things look worse.

The record company could well be holding things up without Axl having handed the album in. Perhaps he's set some terms, you get the album but only if..... and they are mulling over those terms, who knows. I suppose best case scenario is they have the album and are now thinking of a plan of action etc for a release most likely next year now. However I wouldn't even dare dream that 16

Overall though I take this as positive news 9
