so what? what's your point?

the parameters of the review, the scope of the review, any review, discussing the song selection & playing is as valid a criteria for judging the show as as the late starts.

nothing wrong with reviewing the set list

the purpose of the review is help people decide if they should go see the show

the review should not be negative because the material is old though IMO

because most people go to hear jungle and patience, etc.

any easy going reviewer catering to the easy going fan can appreciate this set list and give an accurate review of the show itself

anyone that doesn't already know all the info you are wanting included in the review isn't gonna care, making it irrelevant

certainly nothing wrong with including objective setlist info so people know for sure what they can expect to hear though

you are reviewing the show based on management and the politics of it all

The show in itself must be judged in the politics of it all. the review is lacking in scope.
These are important standards & criteria, & it's as worthy for acknowledgement as the late starts - or for that matter the plentiful good things about the show. If you're critiquing the show these things should be in the scope of the review.

& it's not that they're not playing enough CD, it's more that they're playing it at all. Monkeychow is otmf$ a/the idea they should be playing CD2!
(just trying & imagine the scope of the thing if that happened btw, it's a genuinely interesting idea)

Re: AFD/HoF - even if that is what's selling tickets, it's not an official tie-in/celebration tour & axl p much crapped on it even if it was styled as such so I don't really see your point??? If people are coming for AFD that's fine, but it doesn't say on the ticket that's what they'll get, y'know?

the author is reviewing the show for the masses, not us

And this is where our free-download culture will get us. Only money for the band is in playing live or t-shirts, so that's what we'll get sad

Then we were right.

Most guys got into music for money, not art.

Check and mate

well, if music exists - at some point it was created and became art

not releasing it doesn't make it all about money necessarily

not sharing the art is probably more of a power play with the label

john, in order to come to the conclusion you are coming to you are going into the past and lamenting beyond the scope of the review.

the author is reviewing the show in itself
you are reviewing the show based on management and the politics of it all

"good show but setlist was lacking in cd material' would be a fair and objective satement

ofcourse, they are playing almost as many songs from their least popular album as they are from their most popular album, you know the one that got them into the HOF

but atleast you would be on task there in saying that

good point

don't forget also that izzy knew axl before they were famous

no doubt axl was different then

izzy may need his distance form axl at times and im sure that was played a part in him leaving the band but i am sure they are still friends

There's no way anyone is going to fly all over the world to do a few songs a show on their own dime. That's not reality. GN'R has a touring expense account, like every other band, and it makes since for them to fork out airfair and hotel rooms for Izzy, if that's what they're going to do.

From the backstage footage in 2006, Izzy looks to be having a blast with the band. I don't see anything other than these guys wanting to play with each other.

This just says it's not simply a matter of buddies getting together on stage to have some fun. It's a business deal. You said it yourself nobody is flying all over the world on their own dime to doa  few songs. Had Izzy been in New York and Guns been playing in New York maybe but in this case it's pretty damn clear Izzy was paid and paid well no doubt. Such a  PR stunt by Guns after the whole RRHOF thing. It's clear as day this is all about money and you admit it in your post, yet you try to pass it off as something else.

it's both

izzy adds to the show:

that axl profits from
that everyone else gets paid to contribute to

axl should pay him and im sure he does

but hes a buddy first, thats why he does it. it's not like hes fortus, making the rounds.
