You're saying a Guns N' Roses show today offers more than a Guns N' Roses show 20 years ago? I'll take quality over quantity everyday of the week but to each their own. The vast majority would agree the cost/bang ratio was way better 20 years ago.

While I understand the sentiment, Slash did not start GN'R while Page was the guy who started Zeppelin. Page was also the producer for all of the Zeppelin albums. He had more power in Zeppelin than Axl did in GN'R, but what's funny is he gave up a lot of his power over time. Bonham and Plant started out on salary and Page/Jones made them into full members after the band started succeeding. Axl used every bit of leverage he could to take control of GN'R. I still can't believe how stupid Slash and Duff were to actually sign over their rights.
Jager/Richards, Page/Plant, Perry/Tyler, Axl/Slash that's all I'm saying. the perception is what I'm talking about not who started the band or who had control or who produced. I'm talking about who was integral to the band and how people viewed them. Gn'R without Slash would be exactly like one of those bands minus their guitar player

The sad part is it's Axl people don't like. We've all grown with the changes in his voice but to a non diehard who doesn't pay attention daily the way we do his voice probably sound absolutely atrocious. I mean there are times when i think Axl sounds like absolute shit so I can't imagine what a person who hasn't been paying attention since 1995 thinks. Probably thinks he sounds like one of the worst singers of all time.

:Haha: the funny part was we had to drive 1.5 hours to Edmonton to see them. My buddies mom drove us cause neiher of us were old enough to drive. We did some shopping at the mall that day. I bought Poison's Native Tongue album. It's funny cause to this day that album reminds me of that day. Anyways She dropped us off and then came back to pick us up at like 10:30 or something. We neer got out till midnight and we got in shit. His mom said we should've coe out to let her know 
yeah right. Like we'd leave, not to mention the no re-entry thing.

That ^ is the overwhelming view that the general public has. I've argued that for years on these boards and there's people who deny it to the death. Fact is the general public doesn't give a shit about Gn'R without Slash and when they tour even people who know they broke up still aren't sure who's in the band that is toruing and people still ask if Slash is going to be with them.
Gn'R without Slash would be like Zeppelin without Page.

It was pretty insane. It was my first concert ever. I was 15...............
it was crazy how we had to go about getting tickets. We had to go lineup outside the mall for "lineup tickets". My buddy and I got there at 4:00am and there was already over 30 people there. It was below -20 degrees celsius and we waited in line till 9:00am when finally a lady came to the door and stood on a chair and talked to us all. By this time there was easily 400 people in line. She explained what was going to happen and she'd be back in a few minutes. When she came back she had security with her but all hell broke loose. People started pushing and shoving and I managed to weasle my way up to the front and as she went to hand a ticket to someone and I just jumped up and grabbed it Got #6. So we had to come back a week later and lineup in an orderly fashion no pushing or shoving but this time you didn't need to wait in line for hours. I showed up 10 minutes before tickets went on sale and just stepped into line at position #6 Ended up with row 7 on the floor.
the show was insane. the crowd was bonkers. Brian May was the opener. I remember when the lights went out the place went absolutely insane. It was pretty much the best first concert experience ever. This is the setlist I could find. Not sure how accurate it is. I was surprised to see there was no Civil War. It's been a long time so all I remember from the set specifically was It's So Easy, Jungle, Dead Horse, Patience, Used to Love Her & Paradise City.

fair enough. For me personally I'm done so it doesn't really matter how much he ontinues to lead fans on or if he comes clean. I won't go see them again even with a new album. I "gave back" for all Axl gave to my childhood. I saw them in 1993, drove 12 hours all night through the most brutal winter driving ever to see him in 2002 in Vancouver and we all know how that turned out. I saw him at Hammerstien in 2006 and then two absolutely terrible shows in december for that year in Calgary and Edmonton. gave the guy one more chance in January 2010 and it was fantastic. I'm done. Ive "given back" enough and really of the 6 Gn'R shows I bought tickets for 3 were great, 2 fucking sucked and 1 he never even showed up for. So of the times I bought Gn'R tickets I only enjoyed the actual show 50% of the time. Brutal.
I would go see a reunion though.

I don't even feel TSI deserves to be included. Once Izzy left, that was all she wrote.
I count TSI because it came shortly after the Skin & Bones tour and at that point it still seemed to be a fully functioning band with 3 of the major components left. It was the band that was on the Illusion tours so............

Don't get me wrong, I've very thankful Axl is alive and I enjoy Chinese Democracy....i'm just talking music history....and the general public perception of him.....if he'd murdered himself on the alter of rock Kurt style...right at the end of the tour....think of what we'd have to go on...there would never have been a Slash/Duff leaving falling out, we would never have known there would have been a 15 year wait for a new album, and the helium/raspless era's wouldn't have occurred along with the fashion opinions of people.....
Without almost any of his bad moments he'd easily be the best of all time (to my taste he is anyway)
but that's what guys like John Lennon and Jimi through tragic circumstances enjoy in terms of public opinion....if all members of the beatles had stayed alive maybe they'd have regrouped and released a bad album...or maybe Jimi would become a bloated bum...I love all these guys..I'm just saying...there is a legends effect afforded to these bands that GNR doesn't get because we watched GNR evolve and burn out in a way that most bands don't do.
yeah I hear that. the thing that works in Guns N' Rpses favour is people don't consider it Guns N' Roses anymore and haven't since Slash left. Maybe people here will argue that but let's be real. The vast majority of people just don't see it as Guns N' Roses and to be honest Axl never did a fucking thingt o change that perception. I think when it's all said and done f yu were to do a documentary on the Gn'R story the CD era would be relegated to words on the screen as the movie ended. They'd show each band meber and have a few words of what they went on to do afterwards.
CD in the grand scheme of things isn't part their legacy. It's their Yoko Ono and that's about it.
