i'd love this to be true, and to believe that only one last discussion of how much promotion will there be is holding this album up, but man for such an anticipated album more than half the sales figures are gonna be cuz the fucking thing is finally out...how much marketing really is gonna need to be done...i mean seriously now

It's a good point, CD is a long running joke in most music magazines, the start of every year they make a joke about it, but you can bet they'll be all over it if it ever comes out. It's often said the media don't care about CD anymore and I don't necessarily agree, they reported all they could over the last 10 years, no point covering the same stuff again, it's not that they don't care imo and more that they've nothing left to say about it until it comes out. Anybody who follows music with more than the vaguest of interests knows a bit about CD, even if it's just that it's a decade in the making type of thing, that sort of stuff causes interest. Couple that with the GNR name and I think there's a fair few people going to be very curious about this album all achieved with minimal marketing costs. Sadly in this day and age curiosity translates into downloads not album sales hmm

Something has been holding it up.

Probably just some finishing touches tongue

Best time for a rock album is the summer, during festival time so that's as good a guess as any. The record company supposedly has the album now so they're either waiting for the right time to release it or they're still slugging out negotiations, if that's the case then it'll take as long as it takes could be a couple of weeks or another year. Impossible to say hmm

Do they all do it on a cracker and the last one who jizzes eats it?  Or does that just happen at college parties?

We call that soggy biscuit here, although I reckon it's a myth, what kind of sick fuck plays that, cos let's be honest there's no winner in that game.

Having said that I do know a guy who has supposedly played it, he apparently didn't lose either, funniest thing is he could barely 'get it up' for his girlfriend, so......go figure 18

Very few songs have an effect on me like Comfortably Numb did the first time I heard it. One of the best songs of all time imo.

I'll trade Lance Cade for Mark Henry

but remember what MSL said.. Axl was going to start communicating more openly but doesn't like all the negativity that comes out of everytime he does speak.

I'm afraid that is a consequence of years of let downs and silence, people are bound to be sceptical. I seem to remember most were pretty upbeat when his letter came out, it was informative, outlined album plans etc that's all most are asking for, a bit of communication. Yes i accept some will bitch whatever he says and at that time it was pretty uncalled for but it was far from a majority that moaned when his open letter came out. If he's holding out for universal popularity he'll be waiting a long time, forget about what people are saying and just focus on updating a fanbase that was kept in the dark for too long, he'd soon find there was a lot less bitching if the updates continued and the fans felt less alienated. It's about building up some trust and mutual respect between band and fans, the fans would be much more eager to jump to his defence and be much less critical if they felt appreciated. I understand it's a vicious cycle, why should the band respect or update a fanbase that's always negative and complaining right, but as the band are the one's that hold all the answers the first move's gotta be made by them. The letter was a huge step in the right direction in so many ways, however considering what the letter said and the previous 8 years of practically no information, going quiet again was the worst thing Axl could have done. Now it's all got to be done again at some point, and he will be met with scepticism again, I just hope whenever that happens he realises the best way to stop the negativity is to keep his word, not go silent.

I still am a Slash fan but yeah it was a bit lame, I'd say the girls version of WTTJ on GH sound better as well 16

All that talk of Brain being a dad and all that was probably just a convenient cover up for Brain giving up on Axl until he was ready to release an album.

He did become a Dad and I'm sure the original time off he had was genuinely to be with his child in summer 06, he came back for Inland Invasion in September remember. After that though he dissappeared again and I'm guessing that was and still is album related and nothing to do with his baby.

I saw I Am Legend yesterday. Agree with the people who'd already seen it and posted in this thread. I thought it was pretty good, I was surprised at how much they focused on the horror element, I'd heard the basic plot before I saw the film but I wasn't expecting the horror/thriller angle to such an extent. I'd recommend it.
