Oh, good point. I'd like to hear the version with Brian May playing on it.

Y'know, if Scott wants to do a Christmas album I have no issue with that. Maybe he feels very nostalgic about Christmases past, I know I do. If there's some honest feeling in the music, then it's alright by me.

And I'll be interested to see what develops out of the VR mini-reunion. An interesting time for GN'R fans, with the HOF and the random VR reunion…

Polls like these always seem a bit redundant. I mean, they're just song titles, we have no idea if they're ballads, heavy numbers, whatever. Remember when Bach was saying Sorry was a "heavy" track and everyone was expecting a rocker?

I'd cheerfully gnaw off my own arm to hear the Corey/VR album - it's more interesting to me than the other tracks from the Chinese Democracy sessions.

For my money, the only two frontmen VR should be considering are Corey and Chester Bennington. Good as Weiland is, VR need someone with a bigger vocal range. And it's hugely frustrating to me that the stars haven't aligned properly for either of those line-ups to happen.

I think more than anyone else, Ron deserves our respect and thanks for going out there and playing his heart out night after night, in light of what's been going on in his personal life.

I thought what worked about "One Man Mutiny" as a GN'R song, is that it has that GN'R-feel.

It basically sounds like an Izzy song, except with Tommy.

Yeah - I'd really like for the Chinese Democracy follow-up album to have a couple of songs where Tommy takes the lead vocal, like Izzy and Duff on UYI. You could probably only get away with it on a double album, though.

#1687 Re: The Sunset Strip » QUEEN Discussion » 773 weeks ago

I think that Brian and Roger are both capable of writing great songs still - they just need someone who's not lazy or overawed enough to go, "that'll do" when presented with the first draft of the song. Freddie would've said, "I'm not singing these fucking lyrics, darling, come back when you have something better" when presented with the tracks from The Cosmos Rocks.

Actually, I know exactly what they need. Rick Rubin.

#1688 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » VR to reunite with Scott for 'A Concert For John O'Brien' » 773 weeks ago

Y'know, if they can't get Corey Taylor or Chester Bennington (or, um, Axl), I'd rather the VR guys reunited with Scott. As opposed to playing with Gnecco or Myles "singing the wrong lyrics to Civil War in a squeaky voice" Kennedy.

Yeah, I have both tracks on my GN'R playlist. smile

I think OMM's a little more tenuous as it's just Tommy, Richard and Dizzy, isn't it? Whereas Pink Panther has everyone bar Dizzy and Mother Goose (and, er, Axl). Certainly it's the first studio recording with all three guitarists on there.

Indeed, so astonishing is this phenomenon that I posted it twice. Er, mods, can you fix that?
