That's interesting. Do we know who it is then?

Rob Gardner?

Or it is Steven and he just can’t remember what is and isn’t him anymore.

There’s a ton of shows they could have gone for instead of Tokyo. It’s a bland souless show to me with low energy. Nightrain felt too slow on that video as well but maybe I’m just more used to the faster tempo of recent years.

That Garden video was a fucking trip. Not sure I’m keen on Axls expressive dance but it was different 16

Nice to see some 93 footage, it’s kind of the forgotten part of the UYI era. Most of the noteable stuff was in 91 or 92. The 93 part of the tour barely gets mentioned but it was great for UYI deep cuts.

I wonder if SOYL makes its way on to the live set this summer?

#154 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR.FM | Destruction Is Coming » 373 weeks ago

I’d love a studio take of Nightrain without the fade out like the live version. Not sure if that’s an option but it’d be great if it exists.

Always loved the NR demo so glad that’s being made available. I’ve wondered if the really early version of NR ‘Sweet Lorraine’ ever existed as a studio take. Always wondered how that sounded.

I’d be stunned if those vocals are from recently on SOYL. Gotta be 80’s vocals right?

I’ve seen similar rumours but who knows? I think it’s probably just guessing like you say but it has struck me that billboard adverts for an AFD re-release or box set seems a bit OTT. Then again they did drop a huge new teasing promo for some extra US dates so who knows.

Tbh an AFD anything at this stage doesn’t excite me too much unless it’s an original 5 show. We’ve been on an AFD heavy diet since 06 and I’m getting kinda full.

The gnr.fm thing is counting down so I guess we’ll know in about 32 hours.

I should also give a bit of kudos on the stratgey for whatever it is because it’s generating a buzz regardless. If GNR was going on a long sabatical after the summer shows you wouldn’t expect them to be firing up the promo engines.

Weren’t Atlas and Going Down listed several times?

We're largely saying the same thing Monkey.

In 2002, the album would've been released after the VMAs and the US tour would've continued. Same thing as what you're saying about Metallica.

The Rio show in 2001 Axl made a point of saying what he said in 2008. This is the album, next year is another album, we'll be back on another tour.

But playing new songs live doesn't make sense unless you're releasing an album and they aren't.

On the other hand, this is why I'm utterly unbothered when people go "But we only have a five-year window before Axl's voice is out of commission they have to do an album NOW". Because if/when they do an album, it'll probably use the Chinese Democracy II vocal tracks, which were recorded – in some cases – back in 1999.

Yeah but that'd cover CD II.

If the 3rd album in the trilogy is incomplete, the vocals probably are too.

And if CD II is put on the shelf for politics or business reasons, we have nada.

I’m pretty sure Axl can still knock out strong vocals in the studio. Whether that can be replicated every night on an 18 month tour remains to be seen. However his stint with AC/DC if nothing else proves he still has the classic rasp when needed live, let alone a studio setting.

How fucking ridiculous.

I’m in no way pro Trump but the fact someone feels the need to publically apologise for ‘offending anyone’ by saying they would have voted Trump had they been able to is unbelievable.

Firstly for being so spineless that they can’t defend what was clearly their original opinion. Secondly that people are so precious they’re offended and it now causes controversy by someone hypothetically saying they’d vote for the guy that already won a democtratic election?

The left is its own worst enemy.

I never set too much importance by the synth guy and nor do I now it’s the synth girl. Don’t have an issue with her being there but equally the band doesn’t fall apart without her.

This generations Tracey, Roberta and Teddy all rolled in to one.
