Coma and Breakdown, that would be the dream. And it will stay a dream forever 16

I just finished reading this monster and I'm really astonished. great work! maybe I just lack some more information about Robin rejoining GNR before 2001 shows, and maybe a few lines about Axl doing a DJ in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. cool though!

(and thanks to James Lofton for inviting me here!)

Welcome to the forum! 5
I remember you had the paradise city tracker way back when i was collecting gnr dvd's.
Nice to see you here!

I don't doubt you Will. But a few questions - how did Izzy get your phone number to contact you directly? And why would he contact a board member here on Evo in the first place?

Just seems a bit odd to me...

Will/downliner hosted RosesofVelvet/GNREvo at the Izzy fansite that he was running at the time if i remember correctly.
He's got connections 16
I wouldn't doubt Will for a second.

I am utterly bemused & perplexed by mrID's hardon for 4tus & his beliefs in his songwriting ability, & acceptance of hearsay as fact but that's a slightly different matter.
I can only figure we're standing at opposite ends of the spectrum on this subject. I find his posts itt bizarre & confusing.
I'd venture to say it's because he's got his head lodged up his ass, or Axl's ass, or fortus' ass or his insider pals asses, but I don't want to be seen insulting the guy. But really I see no objective explanation for excitement over Richard fortus being in the band. He's a good professional but for christ sake what has he ever done to inspire such fandom?? I don't get it.. I'm not even close to getting it. Is it all because of this idiotic & misguided notion that he's more reliable than Izzy?! I don't know.. I just don't know.. What is the big deal with 4tus?!

I'm not familiar with Fortus' songwriting so can't talk about that but i like him because at every show i've been he was the surprise/highlight. I didn't expect that to be the case before the shows because we had a lot of guitarists over the years with very different personalities/looks/styles. But when i was in front of the stage the guy that drew my attention was Fortus.

I like his guitar playing, his laid-back style, his guitar 'punching' and his overall attitude.
I think he's the guitarist that resembles the most the classic gnr look/vibe. Just simple rock n' roll, no gimmicks and tricks (not trying to insult the other guitarists in the band, i still like'em big_smile ).
He plays his parts/solos well, he doesn't fuck'em up.
He has been a constant, reliable guitarist for the past 15 years. The only one if i'm not mistaking. For a band that has been renowned for it's revolving door of guitar players he's been there all the time. I respect that.
He gives interviews and tells us what he knows at the time. If plans change it doesn't mean he was wrong when he shared the info. He isn't the guy that makes final decisions in the band. We all know that. Doesn't make him a douche because he shared what he knew.

So, let me see, a rock n' roll, capable, reliable guitar player that is a constant member in a band known as a revolving door of musicians, that gives interviews in which he shares the info that's available to him. Yeah, i wonder what people like about him, too.

Presidents decided on a coin toss 16 Hilarious.
Maybe that's what we need.
The public vote has no value anyways, at least that's what everyone thinks.

#157 Re: The Sunset Strip » Oscars Controversy » 548 weeks ago

This is bullshit.
'I'm black! Nominate me because of my skin color!'
Black people talk so much about getting over racism yet they use every occasion to bring it up into discussion and throw it into people's faces.
Do a better job and maybe you'll get nominated. Not because of your skin color but based on the quality of your actual work.

Can't wait to see what Chris Rock has to say about it in his opening monologue 16

#158 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Axl vs. Slash - GN'R Member Elimination Series Final » 548 weeks ago

Wow, just like some people before me, i'm surprised it's so close big_smile
Before i voted it was 50/50 with 18 votes.
I guess Slash's fans were more quiet 5
I went with Axl, mostly because i'm usually paying more attention to the lyrics and vocals in songs (generally speaking not just GNR). And it's his energy and 'crazy' persona that drew me to him. He's my favourite musician/frontman. He's might not be the best ever but he's my favourite.
And this is not a vote against Slash, he is amazing and i can't wait to see them back together after so many years.
... what could've been ...

Dizzy is more than a touring piano player, but a songwriting partner also. No reason to diminish the guy...

Didn't mean to, sorry 19
AFD happened without him, and most of UIY was written before he came on.
Writing partner to... CD? Because we haven't heard much from them since UYI.

So why is he on the same level as Duff, i don't know.
People at least have heard of Duff. Dizzy, i'm not so sure.

I love DUFF. This isn't about me taking credit away from Duff. If i'm willing to mark out to Dizzy, i'll obviously mark out to Duff.

But the bottom line is people ain't paying $300 bucks a ticket for Duff McKagan. They just ain't. They got Duff McKagan last year for cheap.

This whole money thing is all Axl & Slash. So why Duff, and not Dizzy? That's the only hypothetical I was ever trying to present, lol.

I think you'll find at least a part of that answer in Duff's book.
It was the AFD 5 all the way.
They are friends.
Dizzy didn't even write that much. Yeah he's been in the band 25 years. Touring piano player.
