Just watched "Doubt."
Great acting but the story isn't all that great and it takes awhile before the conflict explodes. I'd give it an 8/10 because the 4 main actors in the film all did a great job.
The story is kinda slow but I've always wondered why he never fought the charges more vigourosly since the evidence she had on him was kinda skimpy. I also liked the racial component of the storyline. It's closer to a 6 or a 7 in my book.
Last movie seen: Reservoir Dogs
Improves upon every subsequent viewing.

They did support the album in my mind. They gave him 13 million dollars and close to 10yrs of patience because he was Axl Rose. They sent different producers and whatnot when there were problems with the album. Jimmy Iovine checked in on them periodically during the making of the album. I'm pretty sure the label had something to do with the buzz around 2000 when there were several articles about GNR returning and relesing CD.
It just sounds like another excuse from Axl to deflect blame from the bad sales.

Psycho, even if it isn't my favorite Hitchcock film. I've always enjoyed the part where Martin Balsman gets killed at the top of the stairs.

Carradine's Rep: 'He would never have committed suicide'
June 4, 2009, 10:14 AM EST
MSN Entertainment and AP
Following reports that David Carradine hung himself in his Bankok hotel room, the actor's rep is speaking out, saying that the "Kung Fu" star would never have taken his own life.
Talking to Entertainment tonight, his rep states, "David would never have taken his own life, he would never have committed suicide and the investigation is at the highest level to find out the cause of the death."
Entertainment Tonight also reported that initial autopsy results are expected to be released in two days.
A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Bankok, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.
It said Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and had been staying at the hotel since Tuesday.

This seems to suggest that it wasn't a suicide and there are rumors that it was auto-erotic asphysiaxion gone bad, although that seems to be premature as well.
Whatever the case I enjoyed his role in the two Kill Bill films.
RIP

The Da Vinci Code
SUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Tom Hanks, what a misstep. For Tom & Ron Howard, it makes Splash looks like Apollo 13.
Awful, awful film. Nearly Batman & Robin territory.
I saw this in the cinema when it came out in 2006. This is the type of film that works if you don't think about the plot and are just looking two waste two hours away. When I left the theater, I actually thought about the film and noticed a whole bunch of flaws I hadn't noticed. The Tom Hanks character is never fully developed or explained. They never discuss how he came into his field of study. His function in the film is mainly as a companion to the Audrey Tatou character. They could have gotten any other actor to play his character in the film The Ian McKellen storyline was bad as was the Silas the albino monk thing. Jean Reno was cast as the incompetent French bureacratic policeman which I found slightly offensive and a waste of his talent.
In short, you're correct and this thing should only be seen if you need stress relief or need some mindless fun to pass the time by.

Se7en:
This films works on a dual level--a smartly crafted thriller and as an examination of apathy and alienation in modern society. I don't think it was by accident that they named Morgan Freeman's character William Sommerset--after the 20th century author W. Sommerset Maugham--since his character is very literary and learned. Those are the little touches that I dig about this film. The acting is ace especially the ending.

Axl lied a couple of times (2006 press release etc.), but we all do, I think. However Axl doesn't lie all the time, but he's extremely bi-polar and unreliable. In a minute he thinks CD is done, in the next it'll take another month to finish, then another 3 years. I think that we (online fans) and the 'players' see his 'better part' when he appears. I don't wanna overanalize him, but as numerous sourced admitted, Axl often shuts down completely. Then you won't see him for days, weeks or months. He calls the band when he's ready to work and frees them to do their things when he's not ready. He's a funny person when meets Beck on a plane, but in the other 11 months of the year he doesn't leave his house.
I don't think we'll see or hear anything from him in the next couple of months or years. He wasn't satisfied with CD sales (Bumble insinuates it), he's in war with his record company, the last tours with CD promised weren't successful enough(considering how much risk a promoter takes with working with him) and the release of CD killed the myth and didn't live up to the expectations. His new band is replacements of replecaments and the line-up is getting weaker and weaker.
I think he'll do what he did a decade ago: sit down and try to find out what to do next.
This is a great post. I think at various points the project was finished but Axl found faults somewhere and kept on delaying its release. Isn't he overly sensitive as well? That doesn't mix well with the online criticism that he receives from the fans and probably explains why he has a standoffish relationship with the hardcore fanbase.
I just wish there was someone in his "inner circle" who would have told him this record is done, the more you tweak the worse the songs will sound. Unfortunately he is surrounded by beggars and hangers on who don't have his best interests at heart.
The intriguing character of Axl Rose is probably the one reason why I continue to pay attention to this band and will in the future.

Another article I read seemed to indicate that lightning could be a possible cause for the crash. I think it's remarkable that there haven't been more incidents considering how many issues involved with air travel--weather, mechanical, pilot error. This was a pretty new plane--4 years old--that just crashed. My thoughts and prayers will be with those that have lost loved ones.
