That’s 9 minutes I’ll never get back.

Axl and Slash get a hell of a pop when the crowd sees them.

#144 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR soundchecks Slither » 368 weeks ago

Shadow sounded great, I thought Slither sounded much better too. Seemed more in to it which would figure if he could actually hear it this time.

#145 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR soundchecks Slither » 368 weeks ago

Meh Slither didn’t sound great however I’m willing to cut them some slack and it is really cool they added it to the set.

No YCBM or Coma and a shorter show overall by around 40 minutes suggests something was up. Lets see what things look like 4 or 5 shows in.

I hope they drop Black Hole Sun. A nice tribute at the time but I think the moment’s passed.

I think if you have a core two, like most bands they become the members people identify as ‘the band’. To anyone other than hardcores everyone else is largely interchangeable. Most major rock acts have had at least one lineup change over the years and the public barely blinks.

I think you can sometimes get away with losing one of the key two providing the rest of the band remains to provide stability to the lineup. It might not be the same but over time it is recoverable. See Ac/Dc although it helps if your next album with the replacement member is killer.

I’ve sometimes wondered how GNR goes over if only Slash left from the end of the UYI tour. If Axl patches things up with everyone else and the rest of the band move forward.

How does the public respond in 01 to a lineup of

Axl
New lead guitarist
Gilby/Izzy
Duff
Sorum
Dizzy

I’ve often thought the same thing. The similarity between an atom and the solar system I’ve always found interesting.

#149 Re: The Garden » Trip to England » 371 weeks ago

Missed this thread before you went Neemo.

Glad you enjoyed it. The south coast is nice, Cornwall, Devon and Dorest are all good to visit. Never been to Bournemouth but I loved Poole as a kid, catching fish off the harbour.

Yeah London is pretty big and pricey but I do love going.

As a general rule the further north you go in the UK the cheaper things get.

If you ever come back I’d recommend visiting the Cotswolds if you like the olde worlde stuff. It’s about 1.30 hours out of London.

I stayed in Whitechapel last year for the GNR gig. If you enjoy Bangladeshi culture it’s great, otherwise not so much 16
