Ron's version of Better is cool. Fuck everything about DJ's version.

I'm gonna be that guy – can anyone PM me?

#1453 Re: Guns N' Roses » Blood in the Water » 688 weeks ago

Damn it, I just want the other MSL tracks to leak.

#1454 Re: Guns N' Roses » Blood in the Water » 688 weeks ago

Not sure – I've seen it mentioned that MSL has 12 tracks, but he's exchanged 4 of them for a rare "grenade cover" edition of CD. So in all likelihood the most we'll get is 3 more tracks, but I'd love to hear whatever else he's got his hands on.

Can someone hook me up with a PM?

EDIT – never mind, found it! It's odd, isn't it? Hopefully the rest of MSL's 12 tracks will leak soon.

#1456 Re: Guns N' Roses » Pretty cool video interview with Fortus » 691 weeks ago

The really sad thing for me is that we'll never get to hear Fortus and Slash together – I reckon Fortus' choppy rhythm parts and country picking would mesh really well with Slash's blues-rock stylings. Plus he has killer stage presence.

In my fantasy land, I picture Axl getting a voice trainer and getting back to his 2006 form, with Fortus and Slash on guitars, Duff on bass, Ferrer on drums and Mother Goose and Dizzy on the keys. And Izzy writing and guesting occasionally. That'd be an awesome band.

Apologies if it's been posted before – I just discovered it! Fortus talking about how the band's changed up the old songs, and who wrote which bits of Better:

I've a suspicion that there's enough of Fortus' KOHD lines in there to mix it together with the old studio track – be interesting to hear that...

#1458 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash and Paul Tobias » 693 weeks ago

The killing irony is that 1) based on his CD writing credits the guy could write a tune, even if he didn't have the "particular style" to make it interesting when he played it, and 2) he ended up leaving the band 'cause he wasn't comfortable performing on stage. If Axl had only got Huge to co-write with him, and found someone else to fill the vacant guitarist slot, it might've worked.

The more I listen to Angell's work – I've just bought both albums from The Missionary Position – the more convinced I am that they need to get him to front Velvet Revolver.

Shit, Axl didn't look that good 13 years ago either. 2006 best year for new era Axl.

Actually makes me feel optimistic that he could regain 2006 era form then.

I mean in fairness he's going to be 7 years older or whatever...but still.

I'd be most happy with return to 2006 era vocal chops - but not sure if that's possible. Some say it's just training and exercising the voice, but others seem to think he has an unfixable vocal issue and what we see now is him managing it as best as can be.

In 2006 the big difference was that he had Baz's vocal coach. I'm assuming that isn't the case now.

2002: squeaky voice, no vocal coach.
2006: raspy voice, vocal coach.
2010-present: squeaky voice, thus we must infer that there's no vocal coach.
