#131 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bob Ezrin talks Axl and Chinese » 642 weeks ago
Most producers pitch directly into song structure and writing, that's often part of the deal, it is not unusual. They don't get writing credits they usually just get a guaranteed fee. Watch Bob Rock in action with Metallica for example.
I still find myself appalled at Axl's business methods.. the word's "hangers on" pervade almost every industry story about Axl.
He has been stunningly lazy, wreckless and very naive in his professional life and as a result relegated his quarter billion dollar career and U2 scale legacy to a slick but tired cabaret.
Axl hides much more than he confronts. It leads me to believe that he refuses to meet Slash at all as he has developed his own version of why he is where he is, and that version absolves him of any blame and places it all on Slash. He'd rather hide from an alternative truth than face it. This is why I think there has been no book or article from Axl about the breakup; deep down he knows that if he writes a story about how all of the people on his shit list of enemies at some stage tried to screw him physically, mentally, emotionally, financially - he'd probably get sued for printing untruths.

I wish the band would do alternate nights where one night is the nromal show in a 7000-8000 arena. The next night could be a "deep cuts" gig in a 2000 capacity venue so all of us blow hards could get to see the less popular tunes.
Imagine this as a set, just to hear some of these tunes again live would be such a buzz..

I know its gay, trivial and unimportant but where has that mans face gone?
Even Adler looks better kept.
#134 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Interview with Izzy Stradlin - August 24, 2011 ? (Probably fake) » 647 weeks ago
I think you're being very soft there faldor.
Sure two sides have their story, except one side was actually there, and a core part of the rise of GNR bar one guy .
The other side are hangers on who were not there (unless being a housekeeper was "there") and the last one is simply a grateful musician who knows his place.
#135 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Dropping the Needle Podcast with Alan Niven » 649 weeks ago
I just don't see much difference between what he said, and more importantly HOW he said it, then when Axl goes off on people.
Really? Niven was slower than treacle but I didn't need a degree in cryptology to understand hs point.

And what gets me, going off the last page, is that Izzy seems to be the cool, genuine, unmaterialistic rock dude to some of you guys until it doesn't suit you. Now he's Axl's employee, they don't hang... Today anyway. Tomorrow maybe he'll be something else.
I don't know why this guys' word has to be gospel. Axl's isn't. Slash's isn't. Alan, from how he's presented himself, definitely doesn't give me a whole lot of faith that he's completely unbiased.
My main problem with Axl is that he alludes to everything that he considers he's been wronged and never explains it. Like he's aiming it at Slash and saying, "He knows exactly what he did. And he has to step up and admit it." That shit drives me crazy.
My position on Izzy has been consistent, I.e. dick move on not showing up to the RNRHOF in light of him playing a wedding. The story about him trying to convince Axl to attend only just arrived and in light of that, plus the fact that he publically stated that a "reunion" to him can only be the original five made his actions a little more understandable. Bottom line though, it seems money is now the primary driver, no shame in that your legacy won't pay the bills. Still think weddings above old friends is a mistake.
Totall agree with your point on the Axl's answers.. Call people out straight, supply evidence and who can argue? The "he knows what he did" shit doesn't wash.

Would love to hear an album from this band!
#138 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Dropping the Needle Podcast with Alan Niven » 649 weeks ago
Faldor,
what wrongdoings have you identified that he did?
Axl's are well documented.
Plus, how can you say that he should let it go if this his first in dept interview on this in years, an interview that was not his idea?
Also, how is it one sided? I posted quotes from Izzy and Slash that both said he was unfairly treated and they felt bad.
I don't get your position, the facts don't sem to support it.
#139 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Dropping the Needle Podcast with Alan Niven » 649 weeks ago
The story is kinda weird. Why would Izzy go and play a show with him shortly thereafter being snubbed like that?
I think Izzy & Axl now "work" together rather than hang.
Izzy gets paid to play and Axl is not involved in the discussions around pay. There was an article about a year ago where Axl said he was delighted to have Izzy on stage with him but was surprised & disappointment when he found out the cost of having Izzy there.
I'll try to find the article. It shows both men up to be pretty distant from each other on a personal level.

People can bag on Niven all they like, at least the guy put himself out there in a completely non-hysterical manner to give his take on things.
And frankly, its always a much straighter read than we get from Ax.
And yes, I would wonder why Izzy bailed...but he did say before that a reunion would have to be the old five and nothing less.
Still...Axl not showing up for the meeting with Izzy shows me a man who does not have the balls or honor to define his position to his oldest friend and hear what he has to say in return.
Sad..
