Marilyn Manson Says Led Zeppelin Is Responsible For Reunion With Twiggy
Taking a page from the Van Halen playbook, it was announced yesterday that Marilyn Manson and longtime collaborator guitarist Twiggy Ramirez would reunite for Manson's Eat Me, Drink Me tour. Rock Daily talked to Manson hours after the announcement, and he shared the story behind their reunion. Though the two had already re-connected during a chance meeting on the streets of Los Angeles, it was Manson witnessing another reunion that inspired him to invite Twiggy back. 'The turning point for me was when I went to see Led Zeppelin's reunion show, and I saw Jimmy Page and Robert Plant look at each other for a moment, and they probably said, '˜Holy shit, we wrote '˜Stairway To Heaven.'' I wanted that look again,' Manson explains. 'I want to look at Twiggy and go '˜Holy shit, we wrote '˜The Beautiful People.' I called him and I said '˜Let's go do this.'' Plus, the duo had some unfinished business. 'We started music together because we wanted to bring about the apocalypse, and we realized we didn't finish,' Manson says. 'The world could suffer much more if we were together again, and we really wanted to bring back the suffering.'
With Twiggy back in the fold after departing over creative differences after 2000's Holy Wood, how would this effect Manson's 'Rape of the World' tour, set to launch in a week? 'We're still gonna play some new songs,' says Manson, 'but I think we're excited to play some stuff that we haven't done in a long time. I don't think it ever felt as right without him.'
While Manson is eager to return to working on his film Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll, he promises that his reunion with Twiggy will eventually result in a new album. 'The concept originally of he and I getting back together was '˜Let's write some music together,' ' says Manson. 'But life's too short, and this has to happen now because we couldn't stand not being on stage with each other, and wouldn't want to wait until we made another record to tour. So this tour will spawn another record, one hundred percent.'

I agree with James' posts in here. This has Snakes on a Plain written all over it. But god I wish it was Cthulhu, that would be a badass movie.

I agree with you that it's a great movie, but as a filmmaker I really can't endorse the uploading of entire films, still in theatrical release, here on the boards. I'm not trying to start a bitchfest and you know I like you James, but just ... be careful with this stuff.

Man, I don't really dig Linkin Park but are we throwing around the "emo" label that blindly now?

But I think you underestimate GN'R's worldwide appeal. While attaining those numbers may be a thing of the past for domestic sales, they stand every chance to break even worldwide and I think turn a profit. Consider the $13 million plus advertising an investment in re-establishing the label's most prominent catalogue band. I still believe the theory that more than one album of material has been recorded and is ready to go. Even if you don't split the $13 million into three and you just look at it as re-establishing this legendary, mythic band (or figure, being Axl Rose) in the public consciousness, there's more than $13 million to be made from touring off that hype of the album actually being released. You're all putting way too much into a number like $13 million being a financially crippling thing for a label like Geffen, and it's simply not the case. There's a bigger picture here.

Marketing "pros" usually don't know their head from their ass. I can understand Axl being protective of how something that's clearly meant so much to him and will mean so much to his career is going to ultimately be released. If the record labels knew how to market their properties and take advantage of what little audience they have left, they wouldn't be drowning as fast as they are. Axl may not be a marketing genius, but in our day and age things generally become a hit because we're told they already are. Very rarely does that built-in hype fail, and when it does it's because the property didn't have a chance at commercial success to begin with. People buy the albums they're told to, they like the songs they're supposed to that are played on radio the most often. That's why Nickelback and Daughtry can pull in those numbers. That's why turgid shit like Transformers can gross half a billion. Transformers was a hit before it even opened. Daughtry was a rock star before his first single. If Chinese Democracy is shoved so far up people's fucking ass that it's all they can see, hear, and think of leading up to its release, then it will be a success. Since a Use Your Illusion level of hype can't possibly exist on its own, they need to create one. People are dumb fucks, they'll buy what they're told. VR's label got cocky and didn't think they needed to market Libertad as aggressively as Contraband. Look what happened. There's no reason Libertad wasn't an even bigger hit. And don't say "It didn't really have material for singles, it didn't have a 'Slither'." For Chrissakes, "American Man" could have been the new "Slither," it only takes the right exposure and whoever the label feels they need to dump their money and resources in to push on radio and TV at that time. Clearly VR wasn't the label's priority when Libertad was released. For Geffen as well as for Axl, Chinese Democracy needs to be that priority.

Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez Have Reunited.
The duo that started it all, are back together to finish where they left off. The two who co-wrote Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holywood will be sharing the stage once again.
Joining Manson and Twiggy onstage for the U.S. leg of the Rape of the World Tour will be Chris Vrenna, Rob Holliday, and Ginger Fish. Tim Skold has amicably split with Manson, but future collaborations aren't being ruled out between the two.
Expectations for the upcoming tour are best described by quoting one of Manson's most infamous lyrics, "Everyone will suffer now". Looks like the shit is gonna hit the FANS.
Tour dates are also on the MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/marilynmanson

I've believed this "rumor" from the start, I don't see what's so hard to grasp. It doesn't mean we're any closer to getting the album.
