I thought season 1 was about as faithful a recreation of book 1 as you could have really hoped for.

That shows very little faith in Axl’s ability....I figure what is in the vault will be similar to Chinese in quality just as Uyi1 is with Uyi2. hmm

No, I just have little faith that locked away in a dog shit filled studio for a couple of years, a group of glorified session musicians managed to create some musical masterpiece that we’re being denied from hearing due to Axls procrastination or whatever.

personally, i'd LOVE to hear those. those guys killed hundreds of hours in the studio waiting for axl to show up. i can only imagine they put together some monster instrumentals.

i want to hear what they jammed on after taking this photo:

it really is crazy... the amount of material recorded by guns n roses compared to the amount of material the band released is absolutely disproportionate.

is there any other band like that?

zombux is right though... we're never gonna hear shit. it's just really unfortunate because axl assembled a mutant team of the world's most talented freaks and we only heard a fucking fraction of what they put together.

yep, totally agree. what a waste of... pretty much everything involved - people, talents, time, money, everything.

Totally disagree.
The last thing the world needs is demos of Robin Finck on lead guitar.
CD was worth it. If TWAT was all that ever arrived it was worth the $13mil.

Yea there’s maybe cool tunes in the vault (there isn’t) but so what? There was far more spillage & wastefulness than anything worth saving. You really don’t want to hear the instrumentals of Finck/Tommy/Freese. If you do you really need other interests.

That’s pretty much my take on it as well. For years it was ‘wait to hear what Finck etc have done in the studio it’ll blow everyone’s mind’. Then CD came out, which really was the window to drop the best stuff, and whilst it was ok with a couple of gems in there I don’t think minds were exactly blown.

Now it’s the unheard stuff still in the vault and not deemed good enough for the first album that must be incredible.

Maybe.

But it’s equally possible a group of what amounted to above average studio musicians with zero chemistry, vision or direction produced not that much worthy of note at all and it’s sat in a vault for a reason.

Slash worked up a conspirators album in his Down time from the GNR tour. No reason he couldn’t do the reverse in 2019. Could only see an end of 2019 release at best though more likely 2020.

Much like the rest of the last decade if no new music materialises I suspect willingness and availability of the lead guitarist is not the main reason.

Amazing really that the post CD era is now basically as long as wait was for CD itself.

Be interesting to see which decade fans remember more fondly, 98-08 or 08-18?

Post CD certainly seems to have gone quicker but that may be more to do with me than anything GNR related. I only really picked up the CD saga in 04 but that 4 year wait felt like an eternity.

Video won’t play, which show was it from, Taiwan?

To be fair he’s been nailing Shadow consistently since they first started playing it.

It might be the last time we see him for a little while.

Tour fires back up again this weekend. Not expecting anything new but a couple of different deep cuts would be cool.
