#1061 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash Basically Blaming Axl » 855 weeks ago
First, they've already got enough to retire unless they're absolute numbskulls with their money.
Tell that to the Eagles and all the other bands who did it BigBri. Sometimes it's about capturing old glories, not just the money.
Two, you assume Duff, Izzy, Steven and whoever would criticize Slash if he were the roadblock to all that cash. I don't think everyone involved has the balls to criticize Slash if that were the case.
I think Steven might as he's nothing left to loose and he said 'what jas Slash done?' when the cancer quote came out. Anyway, they all had the balls to criticise Axl so why not Slash, even back in the days when none of them were working together anymore and VR was not in existance?
Axl just doesn't like Slash anymore. I've got friends who I just grew apart from. Just because they made music doesn't oblige them to be friends forever.
I fully agree but Pax says she knows big secrets about Slash. Axl said he is a cancer. That's not 'growing apart' from someone, that's hating them.

Regarding our 'negativity' at this board.
For me it boils down to this. Most of us here love the idea of GNR - THE BAND not GNR - THE MAN.
The band dynamic is where the magic is. We don't want Trent Rose or Elton Rose we want Axl Rose and Guns N Roses. Many of us have developed deep admiratios for the old band, Bucket, Robin etc only to see them resign in utter frustration. As fans it is hard to understand what GNR actually is anymore - hence the 'negativity'. Umkay?

Ok then Pax,
Stephen just mentioned that the original GNR were offered €250 MILLION to re-group.
Even if this is BS, I'm sure there have been some mega offers on the table down the years.
I would be willing to bet that most offers really mean the re-uniting of Axl, Slash, Izzy and Duff with either drummer an option.
Axl has indicated that he could stomach working with Duff and he has already played with Izzy. The only one left is Slash. Which means that from your perspective you could argue that Slash's actions have blocked the others from potentially netting tens of millions of dollars for a single tour.
If Slash really was that bad to Axl and the other guys saw this, why would they not be pissed with him for causing Axl to walk away from potentially the sweetest deal of a lifetime for all of them? One tour with enough to retire.. its a fucking HUGE carrott.
Why has NOT ONE OF THEM ever publically admonished Slash for this heinous behaviour towards Axl that you claim you know of?
Who do we believe, the guys who were IN THE BAND or some nobody on a forum??

I would also suggest you reference statements from John Reece who was the Illusions Tour Manager and Bryn Bridenthal from Geffen Records who where there when it all went down and spoke freely of where the problems within the band came from.
I'll just say that Slash was not singled out.

Paxcow,
Just like Axl, I never see any hard facts come from you about what the major malfunction is with Slash. Nothing but a nasty statement and then nebulous huff and puff - give us some DETAIL to back up your position.
From my position, I see Slash as a man who still hangs out and works with all the old band members and on the other side I see a man who doesn't. There are articles all over the place from Izzy, Duff, Stephen and Matt that make you Axl and his posse look like the ones with the problems, not the other way 'round.
So how about a few of those FACTS huh?? If you're so sure that none of us know what we are talking about why don't you educate us?

My dream is a Slash instrumental album. I don't think I can buy anything else from him until that happens.

I often wonder does Axl ever read this stuff...

Olorin,
You're right about HTGTH, I've seen decent fans call for sanity and respect towards old members be treated very badly by Jarmo the cyber messiah and his tiny island of nutswingers.
That started my problems with Axl. I couldn't believe a man of his stature would be so insecure and weak that he would need a team of those goons to create a forum that must be devoted entirely to his genius with no dissent or even logical questioning allowed. Did Jarmo suddenly decide to be an asshole or did Axl instruct him to do so?

I was lucky enough to meet Slash after the Ron Wood gig in Dublin in 2001 and he and Ron were absolute gentlemen.
I will always be a fan because not only do I love his GNR work, what his solos brought to Axls music etc but also on a personal level he was gracious almost shy and very decent to my buddy and I and was happy to have a beer with us and talk music for a while.
He didn't have to be but chose to be, legend.

I was thinking about this earlier today Neemo. He didn't even have the same singer on the two Snakepit albums.
Snakepit was a side project for Slash. People bought the albums to hear Slash play. The rest of the band was incidental really.
GNR was a global collosus with millions of fans the vast majority having a stated 'favourite guy' in the band. Loosing all of those much loved characters and faces was a huge blow to the fans.
