Yeah, sorry about that.  This thread was so I could get some help with what I was working on, and most of the comments were wiped out when the forum went down, so I reposted everything in a new thread when I had completed my project:

#92 Re: Guns N' Roses » Former GNR Manager Alan Niven Interviewed On NZ Radio » 797 weeks ago

Thanks for the interview, Aussie.  Funny story in there about how Niven wanted David Geffen to renegotiate the contract with GNR and Geffen went ape-shit.  Actually, there are a few good stories in there, many of which have been told, but never as eloquently as Niven does here.

#95 Re: GN'R Downloads » What Axl & Slash would sound like in 2010 » 797 weeks ago

I love this mix.  There are some spots in the song that give me chills.  I can't imagine the incredible music GNR would have made if Slash and Axl could have just gotten along, but I'll die trying.  Maybe they stayed together in an alternate universe and some genius will figure out how to illegally download songs from that universe.  It should be on the next episode of Fringe.

#96 Re: GN'R Downloads » GNR B-Headed » 797 weeks ago

Good question!

When I started, there was actually a concept, which was to take old, unreleased demos and live performances and try to make them sound more like GNR studio releases while using old and new gunner instrumentation.  After I posted my first crack at it, requests from everyone were more directed toward mashups with Bucket stuff, so my concept changed a bit toward straight mixes of Bucket songs with Axl vocals.  The Chinese stuff was also the result of requests on this board and one other.  So, the starting concept and the end result differ.  I called it B-Headed because I personally wanted to name my project, and most of the additions were from Buckethead material (also Brain and Brian May).  A bunch of B's.... B-Headed, Beheaded, Bucketheaded.... you get it.

Anyway, I freely admit that I'm a hack and should have probably left it to professionals or left the original pieces alone.  But I didn't, because I truly enjoy doing this smile.  If anyone wants stripped out vocal tracks so they can do their own mixes, just shoot me a PM.  I'd love to hear BIBH, Crash Diet, JAS, TMTS etc mixed up by someone that knows what the hell they are doing!

Thanks Axlin08.  I listen to them all the time, and just figured maybe someone else would gain some mild enjoyment (or amusement) from them.  Since I posted JAS on here back in January and got so much support (where is my man tylerdurden?), I just kept working.  Hopefully I'm not wasting space by sharing it.

James, don't expect any miracles from It's Alright.  I just plucked out what I could use from Padmasana, layered it, and filtered out some stuff that didn't work.  I think it is a nice, smooth ride - I really like my bass adds and drums on that song too.  Anyway, enjoy it if you can.  The piano part of the intro I used is something SebaL001 posted on YouTube.  That dude is fantastic and his channel is full of great GNR piano covers. 5

Whazup, sounds good - thanks for sharing it.

If you want to make the 99 demo work, you have to change the speed - I think you have to speed it up by something like 1.86% (not just a tempo change).  The early demo doesn't sound right because the tempo and pitch are both off by the same percentage.  Of course there are the a few glitches (holes) in the 99 demo also, but those are easily fixed too, by using the final studio version over the top of those sections of the old demo.

Studio version has two "chirps" (0:34 and 3:23) which seem accidental.  If you want to take them out, it is easiest done with Adobe Audition in the Spectral Frequency Display.

Oh hell yeah, it could be added.  I tried to do it but it sounds like synthesized crap.
